Leadership You Can Trust

Curesa Health was founded by Lauren Cook, RN, MSN, CCRN, CNL, a dedicated registered nurse with hands-on experience caring for individuals and families in different settings. Lauren felt called to elevate the quality of home care after witnessing firsthand the gaps that many families experience when trying to secure safe, consistent support for their loved ones.

Her clinical background and master’s-level training in leadership give her deep insight into what quality care should feel like: steady, trustworthy, patient, and rooted in clear communication. Lauren brings this philosophy to every aspect of Curesa Health, from caregiver selection to client care plans.

Lauren is joined by her husband, James, who oversees daily operations and ensures that systems, communication, and caregiver support run smoothly. With a strong background in operations and team management, he helps streamline scheduling, onboarding, and the family experience so that care always feels organized, reliable, and stress-free.

Together, Lauren and James bring the ideal blend of clinical understanding and operational excellence — creating a home care organization that feels both caring and incredibly dependable.

How We Select, Vet, and Train Our Caregivers

We know that inviting somebody into your home requires trust. That’s why we maintain a rigorous caregiver screening and selection process that reflects our commitment to reliability and safety.
Every caregiver undergoes:
  • A detailed interview and values assessment
  • Reference and background checks
  • Skill, communication, and professionalism review
  • Training aligned with our standards of compassionate, consistent care
  • Ongoing mentorship and support
Our team is chosen not only for their experience, but for their warmth, patience, and ability to build connections. Care is most effective when it is both supportive and personal.

Our Commitment to Safety, Reliability, and Transparency

We are deeply committed to maintaining clear communication and high accountability in every part of the care experience. That includes:
  • Transparent expectations, pricing, and care planning
  • Reliable scheduling and consistent caregiver matching
  • Regular check-ins to ensure your family’s needs are met
  • Flexible adjustments as routines or circumstances change
Our goal is always to make home care feel smoother, simpler, and more supportive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What inspired Lauren to start Curesa Health?
Lauren’s passion for home care grew from helping her own grandmother navigate the challenges of finding consistent, trustworthy support. Seeing the stress families experience — and the gaps in care quality — motivated her to create a more personal, dependable approach for local families in Santa Cruz County.
What makes your leadership different from other agencies?
Curesa Health is run directly by Lauren and her husband James — not absentee owners or franchise managers. Lauren oversees caregiver standards and care quality, drawing from her background working at Stanford and several hospital systems. James supports operations, communication, and customer service to ensure families and caregivers always feel heard, respected, and supported. Being locally owned means families can always reach the people who make decisions.
How are caregivers selected and vetted?
Every caregiver goes through a thorough screening process, including interviews, reference checks, background checks, communication assessments, and training. Families often tell us that this level of care in selecting staff provides immediate peace of mind. For more details on what caregivers can assist with, visit our Home Care Services page.
How do you maintain quality and consistency in care?
We combine detailed care plans, regular caregiver check-ins, and open communication with families to ensure support remains consistent. Lauren’s clinical insight helps guide caregiver practices, while James ensures operational systems run smoothly. This balanced approach helps families feel confident that care will be reliable from day one.
Are you based locally in Santa Cruz?
Yes. Lauren and James live on the Westside of Santa Cruz, and the office is located downtown. Being part of the community allows them to stay closely connected with clients, caregivers, and local families — and remain accessible whenever needs arise
Can you support families with children or teens who need help?
At this time, Curesa Health provides non-medical home care services for adults and seniors only. We do not currently serve children or minors. If you are looking for pediatric home care services, we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.
