Home Care FAQ

Answers for Santa Cruz Families
Choosing in-home care comes with a lot of questions. At Curesa Health, we want families in Santa Cruz County to feel informed, confident, and supported from the very beginning. Below are clear, straightforward answers to the most common questions we hear from families — all written to help you understand how home care works, how fast care can begin, what to expect, and how we keep your loved one safe.

General Home Care Questions

How does the home care process work at Curesa Health?
We start with a phone consultation, followed by an optional in-person meeting if helpful.
Every client receives an RN care review before care begins (virtual or phone depending on needs).
Once the care plan is finalized, we match your loved one with a caregiver who fits their personality, schedule, and support needs. Care can often begin same day or within 24 hours, depending on availability.
What types of clients do you support?
We support:
  • Seniors aging in place
  • Adults who need daily support
  • Individuals recovering from injury
  • Adults with disabilities
  • Children and teens age 6+ who need non-medical support
  • Clients with behavioral needs such as ADHD or autism (non-medical supervision)
We are also in the process of becoming licensed as a Home Health Agency, which will allow us to expand medical offerings in the future.
Do you assist with long-term care insurance (LTCI)?
Yes. We assist families with documentation, help you understand your policy language, and provide the records needed for reimbursement. While we are not an insurance biller, we make the process much easier.
How fast can care begin?
Often the same day, depending on schedule availability.
Almost always within 24 hours, after the RN completes the care review.
We specialize in fast, modern intake so families don’t get stuck waiting days for help.
What makes Curesa Health different?
Curesa Health is a modern, next-generation home care agency built around:
  • Faster communication
  • Clear expectations
  • Younger, tech-forward leadership (without saying “young”)
  • RN oversight
  • High caregiver standards
  • Strong personality vetting
  • Modern tools for scheduling + communication
  • A guarantee that you’ll meet your caregiver on your first shift
We’re raising the bar on what home care should feel like: organized, warm, responsive, and aligned with your family’s needs.
Can I meet the caregiver before care officially starts?
Yes — you will meet your caregiver on the very first shift, and we encourage families to check in, ask questions, and build rapport right away.

Caregiver & Safety Questions

Are pets allowed in the home?
Pets are welcome, as long as they are calm and safe for the caregiver. Please disclose pets ahead of time so we can ensure the right match.
Can caregivers provide personal care like bathing or toileting?
Yes. We provide hands-on non-medical assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
Everything is done with dignity, privacy, and safety in mind.
Can caregivers provide supervision for clients who wander or need redirection?
Yes — caregivers can provide active supervision, redirection, and structure for clients who need oversight, including individuals with dementia, autism, or behavioral needs (non-medical).
Can caregivers provide transportation?
Yes, transportation is available under the right conditions. We follow strict protocols to ensure safety and align caregiver capability with the client’s needs.

Scheduling, Billing & Logistics

What is your minimum shift length?
We have a four-hour minimum for all visits.
What happens if I need to cancel a shift?
Our cancellation policy is:
  • Cancel within 12 hours → charged the 4-hour minimum
  • Cancel within 24 hours → charged 50% of the scheduled shift
This ensures caregivers are compensated for reserved time and allows us to keep operations smooth.
How does billing work?
We keep billing modern, simple, and predictable:
  • Card on file with auto-pay (preferred)
  • Bi-weekly billing
  • Electronic invoices
  • Deposit required for the first two weeks for new clients
Transparent pricing is provided during your consultation — no surprises.
Are any of your caregivers bilingual?
Yes — several caregivers are bilingual, and we can often support Spanish-speaking families. Just ask during your consultation if you need language support.
Can we start with a free consultation?
Yes — we offer a free phone consultation to learn about your needs. An in-person meeting is optional but available if you prefer.
Do you serve cities outside Santa Cruz?
Yes. While our primary service area is Santa Cruz County, we also support nearby communities and plan to expand with city-specific pages that target terms like:
  • home care in Aptos
  • home care in Capitola
  • home care in Watsonville
  • home care in Scotts Valley
We’ll build those pages once your core site is live so rankings begin compounding.
Are you licensed?
We are fully licensed as an HCO and currently in the process of becoming licensed as a Home Health Agency (HHA) — a multi-year approval process that will expand what we can offer.
What should families expect on the first day of care?
Your caregiver will arrive on time, introduce themselves warmly, review the care plan with you, and begin supporting your loved one right away.
You’ll meet the caregiver on the very first shift, and we stay available for any adjustments.
What if my caregiver ever cancels?
If Curesa has to cancel unexpectedly, we will send a replacement caregiver or emergency helper whenever possible so your family is never left without support.
